Black 5 Engine
Introduced by the London, Midland and Scottish (LMS) Railway in 1934, the Black Five was designed by Sir William Stanier and entered service in July 1944. The locomotives were so popular that another 842 were built up until 1951, doing various jobs on the railway networks.
Our Black Five toy train engine has all the realistic features, such as steam pipes, domes, handrails, smoke box door style and the 4-6-0 wheel arrangement. A fantastic lifelike addition to any wooden train set. The original Black Five engine is currently kept by The Mid Hants Railway Preservation Society, at the Watercress Line in the UK.
Magnetic couplings ensure compatibility with all other engines and carriages in the Bigjigs Rail range. Consists of 2 play pieces. Most other major wooden railway brands are compatible with Bigjigs Rail. Made from high quality, responsibly sourced materials. Conforms to current European safety standards.
